Team D&C hit Hamilton Island

It has only been a short three months since our company retreat to Hamilton Island yet it feels like a lifetime ago.

As we move into summer, I can’t help but reminisce about the time we spent over on our little piece of paradise…

From the minute you get off the plane, you can instantly feel the difference in the air around you. It’s fresh, it’s clean and I am almost certain I could smell the coconut oil in the breeze.

Walking out of the tiny airport, we are greeted by a woman who directs us to three buggies which would be our only form of transport for three days…now this was a very interesting experience as you can imagine what a group of crazies would get up to in a motor vehicle that goes twenty kilometres maximum.

The house was an absolute dream. The Infinity was a three level, high-ceiling, ocean-viewing oasis complete with a pool, five bedrooms, five bathrooms, two kitchens…gee, you would think I work in Real Estate!

Basically it was heaven.

As always, the first night is always the craziest! After an afternoon of swimming and exploring, we had a beautiful family barbecue around the dining table accompanied by a bottle of wine (or few) and a good old fashioned conversation…that was until our Founder cracked open the bottle of tequila. Lets just say, we all had headaches in the morning!

It all seemed to go too fast really, From go-karting, to sailing, to bowling, to getting heavenly massages, relaxing on the beach and drinking cocktails at a bar that is literally inside the pool…seriously its in the pool!! I would do anything right now to get my hands on a Passionfruit Caprioska.

Sadly by the time it got to Tuesday, reality came knocking on our gigantic glass door making sure we didn’t forget about our lives back in Sydney.

I cant help but imagine what it would be like to live on an island like that, secluded from the big city, the buses and the trains and the fumes, what would it be like to know every single one of your neighbours and to wake up to a tropical paradise with birds singing and the ocean at your doorstep…well, I think I would rather not know, because a holiday is a holiday and if you turn that into your home then what do you have to look forward to?

Thank you Gary for the trip of a life time!
